This unique mainline is made up of 16 interwoven fibers (Yarn), creating a hollow core. Thanks to this core, it is possible to splice Hollow. This means the line can be seamlessly connected to an unleaded leader such as the Silkray 45lb or a snag leader like the Hollow Kevlar 80lb. In fact, both can be used together, as Silkray and Hollow Kevlar can also be spliced without knots.
The knotless connection of the leader/snag leader ensures that the well-known PB Products Hit&Run system functions even better and more safely. A knot connection to the leader or snag leader is always a weak point in the operation of this system. Even if a knot theoretically passes through the central hole during on-land tests, real-world conditions can alter this. In the water, algae particles can accumulate on the line and build up around the knot, creating a thickened area. This could potentially prevent the knot from passing through the central hole of the system.
That’s why this Hollow spliceable line is truly revolutionary—it prevents algae particles from getting stuck anywhere. Without these thickened areas, the Hit&Run system (inline or swivel) continues to function optimally. Casting is also improved since knots always create resistance and slow down the line.
By carefully adjusting the composition of the 16 fibers (Yarn), we have given the line exactly the desired characteristics and a specific gravity of 1.4. The added PTFE (Teflon) fibers play a crucial role in achieving this specific gravity. With a density of 1.4, heavier than water, Hollow sinks extremely well. The remaining fibers are made of PE, ensuring the necessary tensile strength.
Tip: If you have some Hollow left after spooling, you can use it to create excellent rigs. By splicing a loop, you can easily make perfect Multi-rigs without knots. Of course, other rigs can also be tied, as this material is soft, flexible, sinking, and spliceable.
