Spyderco's Sage Series was created to highlight folding knife locking mechanisms and their inventors. One of the most successful models, the Sage 5, features Spyderco's own innovative Compression Lock. This is a locking mechanism located on the back of the knife. It works by clamping part of the liner onto the back of the blade, keeping the knife in the open position. The Sage is equipped with a leaf-shaped blade made of CPM SPY27. This steel type was specially developed for Spyderco by Crucible and was launched on 15-01-2020. It has all the qualities you want: high wear resistance, edge retention, and good corrosion resistance. The handle is made of stainless steel liners and G10 scales. G10 is a composite material with excellent wear resistance, a firm grip (even in wet conditions), and a subtle yet luxurious appearance. Additionally, the Sage 5 features a reversible Tip-Up pocket clip and a lanyard hole.
