CRKT Du Hoc Fixed - Black
CK-2630
The CRKT Du Hoc 2630 is a distinctive and rugged karambit, designed by Austin McGlaun. A U.S. veteran, McGlaun drew inspiration for this design from his deployments in the Middle East with the 187th Rakkasans. Today he creates knives primarily intended for military use – and for knife enthusiasts who appreciate their raw functionality. The name “Du Hoc” comes from Pointe du Hoc in France, where a pivotal battle was fought during the Normandy invasion after D-Day in 1944. One of McGlaun’s uncles earned a Silver Star for Honor medal there for his courageous actions.
Austin himself describes his knives as black, undecorated and ugly, built purely for use. Everything is matte black, with bold, utilitarian shapes. The Du Hoc blade is made of SK5 carbon steel – tough, easy to sharpen, and not stainless, though its matte coating provides some protection. The blade takes on the hawkbill shape typical of karambits. The tip is sharpened, while the rest of the spine is left thin, allowing the user the option to sharpen it later if desired.
At the end of the handle sits a large finger ring, usable with the pinky or index finger depending on grip preference. While many karambit makers design their rings for quick flipping in the hand, McGlaun intentionally added protrusions to teach proper grip and prevent the knife from rotating during use.
The CRKT Du Hoc comes with a polymer sheath featuring multiple attachment holes for mounting the included belt clip. A screw on the sheath lets the user adjust the retention strength.
